In what authorities describe as a murder-suicide, a Georgia dentist, along with his wife and teenage daughter, were discovered deceased in their suburban Atlanta residence on Sunday afternoon.
The Johns Creek police reported that upon conducting a welfare check shortly after 4 p.m., they found the bodies of James Choi, 52, Muong Choi, 52, and their 15-year-old daughter Grace Choi, according to WAGA.
Investigators say they believe James Choi killed his wife and daughter and then himself. They did not say how the victims or the killer died.
“This heartbreaking situation has deeply touched not just the family and neighbors but has echoed throughout our entire community,” stated Police Chief Mark J. Mitchell. “Our thoughts are with those affected, and we urge the community to hold them in their thoughts during this very challenging moment.”
Grace Choi was enrolled as a sophomore at Mount Pisgah Christian School, which requested “peace and privacy during this challenging time, so that we can dedicate ourselves to supporting our students and community with dedication and compassion.”
NBC News said that she was a gifted violinist who performed with the True North Symphony at Carnegie Hall in July.
NBC also said that James Choi worked at Highland Dental in Suwanee and that the office declined comment.
