An Georgia man is dead after threatening to shoot Walton County deputies at a convenience store Saturday night.

Deputies responded to the store near Loganville when they received a call about a driver crashing into cars in the parking lot and on the highway, WXIA reported.

Once they arrived, they recognized William Parrott — Sheriff Joe Chapman said they were “familiar” with him, but did not say how. They had also been notified by Wrightsville Police — some 130 miles away — that Parrot, then a suspect in his father’s murder, might be in the area.

Chapman said Parrott threatened to shoot the deputies who confronted him and was shot and killed by one of the deputies.

Wrightsville police said they believed that Parrott had beaten his father to death earlier in the day and then driven to his mother’s home at a Loganville trailer park, according to WSB. She was found dead there.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is working with Walton County deputies and the Wrightsville Police Department to put together details of the string of incidents. They did not release further information.
