A tragic incident unfolded in Georgia where a man faces murder charges after allegedly shooting his childhood friend following an inappropriate encounter with the friend’s wife.
According to WTLV, Buffy Cothern recounted that while she and her husband, 35-year-old Jacob Cothern, were giving Brandon Frick a ride in Waycross, Frick inappropriately touched her arm. Buffy, who was driving, pulled the car over, prompting Jacob to ask Frick to leave the vehicle.
“Brandon suddenly drew a gun and shot Jacob,” Buffy described. “As my husband fell, Brandon demanded, ‘Get up and take me home.’ Jacob pleaded, ‘No, Brandon, please stop. We don’t have to do it like this.’ But when Jacob couldn’t stand, Brandon shot him again, then calmly put the gun away and walked off, showing no remorse.”
Police soon arrived and apprehended Frick a short distance from the scene, still armed.
Buffy shared with WTVL that her husband had been working hard to turn his life around after spending years in prison. Having been out for two years, Jacob was committed to overcoming addiction. He had secured employment with Waycross Public Works, earning three promotions in a year, and had aspirations to attend college and obtain a commercial driver’s license.
Brandon Frick, 29, is currently facing charges including malice murder, unauthorized firearm discharge, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, as reported by Law&Crime.
