A significant federal raid in upstate New York resulted in the arrest of 57 undocumented workers, with five individuals facing criminal charges for illegally reentering the U.S. after prior deportations.

Among those charged are Alex Ben Chipin, 39, Argentina Juarez-Lopez, 50, Luis Jom-Morales, 27, and Gregorio Baldemar Ramirez-Perez, 45, all from Guatemala, along with Francisco Salvardo-Mora, 22, from Mexico. These charges were announced by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of New York.

The remaining 52 illegal immigrants were detained administratively pending immigration proceedings, officials said.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney John Sarcone III, the operation conducted on September 4 in Cayuga County marked one of the most extensive worksite enforcement actions recently executed.

In a statement, Keegan emphasized that while the investigation remains ongoing, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is dedicated to protecting workers’ rights and enforcing U.S. laws. This includes tackling workplace exploitation, ensuring adherence to labor and immigration regulations, and maintaining the integrity of the national workforce.

The legal consequences for the five individuals charged with reentry offenses include a potential maximum prison term of two years, fines up to $250,000, and a possible supervised release period of one year.
