GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Even after a quarter of a century, the Gainesville Police Department remains steadfast in its commitment to remembering one of its own. Officer Scott M. Baird, known for his dedication and bravery, tragically lost his life in the line of duty at just 23 years old, on February 12, 2001. His memory continues to be honored by the community he served.
In a heartfelt tradition, members of the GPD will come together on February 12th to pay tribute to Officer Baird. Joining them will be his family, friends, and local residents, as they reflect on his sacrifice and the impact he left behind.
The 25th Annual Officer Scott Baird #467 Candlelight Remembrance will commence at 7:00 p.m. at 1900 NW 16th Terrace, a location fittingly named Officer Scott Baird Boulevard. This gathering underscores the enduring sentiment that a hero remembered never truly leaves us.
