Investigators Search for Clues to Identity of Boy Found Dead in a Suitcase in the Woods – Crime Online

Indiana State Police are combing through thousands of tips but still have no clue about the identity of a 5-year-old boy found dead, stuffed into a hard-shell suitcase, more than a month ago.

A mushroom hunter came upon the suitcase, painted with the famous “Welcome to Las Vegas Nevada” sign, in a wooded area of Washington County on April 16, as CrimeOnline previously reported.

The boy was described as 4 feet tall, with a slim build and a short haircut. While investigators initially thought he was between 5 and 8 years old, they later narrowed that down to closer to 5.

“If it’s a child listed on a missing children’s list anywhere in America, that’s been looked into,” Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls said, WLKY reported. “They’re not finding any matches there.”

Huls said the investigation has been frustrating. An autopsy didn’t confirm a cause of death, and toxicology results aren’t back yet.

“Time is something we don’t want to fight too long with obviously,” Huls said. “We would’ve liked to, and thought we would, have more answers.”

“Somebody out there has first-hand knowledge,” he added. “Not something they have looked up on the internet. We mean first-hand knowledge. Everyone wants answers. Everyone wants to bring justice and a voice to this little guy.”

State police set up a national tip line for information about the boy at 1-888-437-6432.
