Jamie Spears has also asked for the singer’s medical records to be unsealed as her $60 million estate is turned over to her

On Wednesday, a California judge denied Jamie Spears’ bid to have Britney Spears set aside some of her $60 million to cover legal fees that were accrued during their longstanding conservatorship battle —  including his own.

According to CNN, the singer’s attorney, Mathew Rosengart, has claimed Jamie Spears, 69, paid himself $6 million from his daughter’s estate while conservator. The elder Spears’ plethora of petitions also led the singer’s estate to dole out at least $30 million, Rosengart alleged.

During Wednesday’s hearing, Jamie Spears’ lawyer, Alex Weingarten, also asked Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny to unseal Britney Spears’ medical records — claiming “the public has the right to know,” CNN reported.

Jamie Spears became his daughter’s conservator in 2008. The singer initially credited the arrangement with saving her career, but she started publicly challenging the arrangement in August 2020.

In June 2021, Britney Spears asked the court to remove her father as conservator.

The 40-year-old’s conservatorship was officially terminated in November 2021, after Jamie Spears filed documents seeking to “unconditionally” and “immediately” end the arrangement.

In late October 2021, Rosengart filed documents in which he accused Jamie Spears of having ulterior motives behind suddenly seeking to end his conservatorship.

Two weeks before Jamie Spears revealed plans to relinquish his role, Rosengart filed discovery documents requesting more information about the estate’s former manager, Tri Star Sports & Entertainment Group — which Jamie Spears allegedly paid a $500,000 annual salary starting in December 2019.

At the time, Rosengart said he was suspicious that Jamie Spears’ decision to end the conservatorship was “motivated by a desire to bolster his reputation or to avoid his deposition or responding to the outstanding discovery served on him in August.”

CNN reported that two court hearings regarding the ongoing dispute are scheduled for March 16 and July 27.
