Jessica went fresh-faced for their relaxing night in front of the television, with her long caramel locks freely flowing past her shoulders.

Justin was beaming in the sweet photo as he donned a black beanie and grey T-shirt to toast to their accomplishment.

Alongside the snap, Jessica penned: ‘Thanks for watching with us! Hope everyone enjoyed Candy!’

Justin took to the comment section as he declared his love for his wife as he wrote: ‘I. Love. You. You CRUSHED THIS!’

Taking to his own Instagram, the hitmaker later shared his own images as the duo got into their respective characters.

Jessica was nearly unrecognizable as she completely transformed into accused murderer, who gained notoriety for allegedly killed her friend Betty Gore with an axe on June 13, 1980.

Meanwhile Justin rocked his vintage cop attired as he confirmed: ‘Belly’s fake, hair’s fake, mustache is real.’

Last month, the chilling trailer saw Candy on trial and answering questions about her relationship with Betty (played by Melanie Lynskey), the woman she admitted to killing.

The preview began at a baby shower for Betty, who takes the time to say how ‘touched’ she is by Candy’s generosity, compassion and friendship.

‘You’re just a sweetheart,’ the late fifth-grade teacher tells her pal as the clip shows Biel’s character embarking on a months-long affair with her husband Allan Gore.

Chilling music begins to play in the background as Candy admits she feels ‘horrible’ to one of her friends about sleeping with Betty’s husband.

‘Candy, were were so close,’ Betty tells Candy in one scene, before friend-turned-foe brushes her off by saying she’s just been so ‘busy’ lately.

Footage then pans to Candy telling Allan that she believes Candy knows about their relationship and she goes on to pay Betty a visit.

The full story of Betty’s murder and Candy’s subsequent acquittal was featured in Texas Monthly as a two-part series in 1984. The reporting has served as a source for ‘Love and Death.’

Candy was ultimately charged with murder and released on bail with the full support of her church.

She hired Don Crowder, a lawyer she knew from the church, to represent her. They agreed she would meet with Dr. Fred Fason, a psychiatrist and clinical hypnotist, to help her remember what happened on the night of Betty’s murder for her trial.

Dr. Fason determined after a few hypnosis sessions that Candy suffered from childhood trauma that had triggered her rage as an adult. She told the jury that Betty had confronted her about her affair with Allan and had attacked her with the axe first, claiming she turned the murder weapon on her former friend in self-defense.

Candy delivered 41 blows to Betty’s body — 40 of which were done while her heart was still beating — but she insisted she didn’t mean to kill her. After the jury heard the final arguments, Candy was found not guilty.

The Montgomerys stayed together after the trial and moved to Georgia, but they later divorced. It was reported Candy now goes by her maiden name of Candace Wheeler and works as a mental health therapist for teens and adults.

The case went on to inspire the CBS television movie ‘A Killing in a Small Town,’ which aired on May 22, 1990.

Tragic: While the trailer does not show what goes down between the women, Betty ends up dead, and cops begin looking for the killer, who they presume is a 'drifter' or 'strong male'

Hulu picked up ‘Candy in December 2020, while it was revealed this week that Elizabeth Olsen will be playing Candy HBO Max’s adaptation of the case.

Originally, Elisabeth Moss was cast in the Hulu series, but had to back out due to a scheduling conflict.

‘We cannot imagine a more perfect artist to play the leading role of Candy than Elizabeth Olsen. Her talent, charisma, and energy can bewitch audiences like no other,’ Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said in a statement.
