Police in Pennsylvania are looking for a man accused of kidnapping a woman at gunpoint and threatening to slash her friend’s child’s throat.
Shawn Prince, 29, is facing charges including kidnapping, simple assault, making terroristic threats, and harassment, as reported by the Westmoreland District Attorney’s Office.
On Wednesday, Scottdale Police carried out a welfare check requested by the victim’s family, who hadn’t heard from her since a prior domestic altercation on Monday. Upon arriving at the victim’s residence, officers found the door ajar, her phone inside, but no sign of her. During their visit, they were informed that the victim had called 911 and was now at the police station.
The victim recounted that Prince had abducted her on Monday following an earlier police visit to the domestic incident, threatening to harm her child if she refused to accompany him. She alleged that he took her to a secluded area where she was held at gunpoint overnight, according to the criminal complaint.
They stayed in the woods overnight, then Prince started driving again the next morning.
“The victim indicated that Prince began to doze off and instructed her to drive the vehicle,” stated the district attorney’s office. “She recognized her surroundings near Ohiopyle and drove towards the Scottdale Police station due to her familiarity with its location.”
Subsequently, she exited the vehicle, ran into the station, and contacted 911, while Prince drove off, allegedly shouting threats to destroy her house.
Anyone with information Prince’s whereabouts should call 911 or Scottdale Police at 724-887-8220.
