LAPD Seeks to Identify Boy Found With Dog Inside Car After Failed Attempt to Steal It

A surprising incident unfolded when a young boy and a dog were discovered abandoned in a car after a failed car theft attempt.

The Los Angeles Police Department received a call from the car’s owner, reporting that an individual had tried to steal their vehicle but ultimately fled the scene.

“The owner then noticed that a child, approximately two years old, and a dog were left inside the car,” explained the police department.

Officers conducted a thorough search of the vicinity but were unable to find the alleged thief.

“Attempts to identify the child through all available resources have not been successful, and no parent or family member has reached out to the authorities to claim the child,” the police noted.

The child is now under the care of the Department of Children and Family Services, while the dog, which seemed to be familiar with the child, has been entrusted to Los Angeles County Animal Services.

Police provided pictures of the child and the dog and described the boy has having “a medium complexion and curly brown hair” and “wearing a light gray quarter-zip sweater.”

The dog appeared familiar with the child and was placed in the care of Los Angeles County Animal Services.

Anyone with information should contact police at (323) 561-3211 or the DCFS Hotline at (800) 540-4000.
