In Florida, a Lyft driver found himself in custody on Wednesday after allegedly opening fire on his passengers.
According to WRBW, aerial visuals from an Orange County police helicopter revealed a dramatic scene on a residential porch: two brothers, with one suffering from gunshot wounds to his stomach and foot, lay on the ground. Observers from the helicopter also identified another individual, Rolando Rivera-Casillas, who stood by a car with his hands placed on the vehicle and a firearm resting on the hood.
Authorities quickly detained Rivera-Casillas. The injured man alleged that a verbal dispute with the driver escalated after he and his brother were chastised for slamming the car doors.
Rivera-Casillas reportedly forced the brothers out of the vehicle, threatening to shoot them. Surveillance video allegedly captured him discharging approximately five rounds as the brothers attempted to escape.
Charged with attempted second-degree murder, Rivera-Casillas is currently held without bail. In response to the incident, Lyft informed WESH that they have terminated his employment.
