Man beat pregnant woman, told her 'Welcome to Hell House'

Andrew Gutierrez (Brazos County District Attorney’s Office).

A Texas man is set to serve time in prison for imprisoning a pregnant woman within his RV and assaulting her until she became unconscious. Prosecutors reported that he told the expectant mother, “Welcome to Hell House,” before he began to “punch, kick and knee her.”

Andrew Gutierrez, 35, received a 25-year prison sentence last week following his conviction for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon related to the 2024 incident, as stated by the Brazos County District Attorney’s Office. Previously, in 2016, he was convicted of “assault family violence continuous” and served a five-year prison term for that offense.

In January 2024, authorities in Bryan — located roughly 100 miles east of Austin — responded to the defendant’s residence after receiving a disconnected 911 call. “Upon arrival, they found the victim severely beaten and in need of urgent medical care,” the DA’s office stated in a Friday press release.

First responders documented “severe bruising” and swelling to the victim’s face, stomach, and chest. The victim reported that she was 11 weeks pregnant at the time.

“Police spoke with the victim, who stated that she and the defendant got into an argument,” the DA’s office said. “The defendant then locked her in the RV and stated ‘Welcome to Hell House,’ threatening to make sure she didn’t have the baby.”

Gutierrez grabbed the woman by her hair and “repeatedly punched her in the face and stomach” before grabbing a 10-inch kitchen knife. He threatened to kill her and held the knife up to her neck before continuing his attack.

“The victim begged him to stop, and he threw the knife on a table but continued punching, kicking, and kneeing the victim until she lost consciousness,” the DA’s office said. “While the defendant was outside the RV disposing of evidence from the crime scene, the victim called 911, gave an address, and hung up.”

The woman told Gutierrez she needed medical attention, so he forced her to “fabricate a story” about two female individuals assaulting her “so that he would not get in trouble,” the DA’s office reports. “Bryan Police responded quickly to the scene and were able to place the defendant in custody and figure out what actually happened,” the office said.
