Police in Texas are investigating a beheading at a Dallas motel Wednesday.
Authorities reported receiving a call to the Downtown Suites motel around 9:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim had been repeatedly stabbed with a sharp object, according to KDFW.
While police haven’t officially confirmed decapitation, aerial footage from the station indicated a headless body lying on the sidewalk outside the motel.
Police said a suspect was arrested down the street in front of a store.
“Despite the suspect being armed with a bladed weapon, officers managed the situation with restraint and utilized minimal force to capture him,” explained Assistant Dallas Police Chief Terrance Rhodes.
A witness named Stephanie Elliott informed WFAA that she saw the attack unfold. She described the suspect as wielding a machete following an altercation. The victim attempted to flee but was pursued and repeatedly attacked by the suspect.
“The assailant continued to strike him until he was decapitated,” Elliott recounted. “I was in disbelief that someone could treat another person in such a manner.”
Authorities have not named either the victim or the suspect and did not say if they knew one another. They said charges were pending.
