Minor Arrested for Murders of 7-Year-Old Boy, His Grandma

A juvenile has been charged for a double murder in rural Greene County, Tennessee, on Sunday.

County Sheriff Wesley Holt said that deputies were called to a home in Chuckey shortly before midnight and found the bodies of 59-year-old Sherry Cole and her 7-year-old grandson, Jessie Allen.

District Attorney Dan Armstrong told WJHL that the minor he had filed to try the minor as an adult and that the court will hear that motion in May at a detention hearing.

Armstrong said he asked the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation to lead the investigation, working with the Greene County Sheriff’s Department.

“The bodies have been sent for an autopsy. At this time, the investigation is active and ongoing,” TBI spokeswoman Leslie Earhart said, according to the Greeneville Sun.

Investigators did not reveal the age of the minor or the circumstances surrounding the deaths. The relationship of the suspect to the victims was also not released, but WJHL reported that deputies who arrived on scene saw the juvenile in a vehicle with another person and two other people in another vehicle nearby, according to a police report.

The report said they detained the juvenile and walked to the back of the home, where they found the bodies of Cole and Allen. They said they also said they found “puddles of blood” next to a parked car and several tools, “some of which were covered in blood.”
