The search for a missing University of San Francisco student had ended in tragedy, as Chris Liang was found dead in an overturned vehicle in California.

As ABC 7 reports, Liang was reported missing on February 28 after he went on a possibly impulsive road trip from San Francisco to Irvine. It is not clear from the report when Liang departed for the road trip, but he reportedly failed to arrive at his desination, several counties south of San Francisco.

Law enforcement sources told the news station that the California Highway Patrol responded to the report of a fatal vehicle crash on Saturday, March 5. Liang was reportedly found deceased in a Tesla that he had rented for the road trip.

According to the report, the vehicle was found overturned on Panoche Road in Fresno County. Prior to the apparent crash, the vehicle’s last known location was a charging station in Firebaugh, also in Fresno County.

Police reportedly believe the fatal crash took place between February 28 and March 5. It is unclear if or how investigators are working to determine the timeline and cause of the crash.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Fresno County Sheriff at (209) 826-3811.
