A Georgia mother is facing charges after police say she gave her teenage daughter a golf club during a dispute among juveniles, setting off an alleged attack in which two girls were targeted and one was left hospitalized with a fractured skull, according to the victim’s mother.
Curtisia Heath, 36, has been charged with aggravated assault in connection with the Monday incident, the Newnan Police Department said in a press release. Police said one teenager was injured badly enough to require treatment at an Atlanta-area hospital.
The injured girl’s mother identified her to local television station WANF as 14-year-old Keira Harps. She told the outlet Keira needed staples in her head after the attack and said the confrontation followed online bullying allegedly involving Heath’s daughters, who ride the school bus with Keira.
“On August 31, 2026, at approximately 6:39 p.m., officers with the Newnan Police Department responded to a 911 call for an assault with injuries at Ball Street,” the department said. “Officers discovered a verbal altercation between several juveniles which resulted in a physical altercation.”
Investigators said the argument quickly “escalated.” Heath allegedly went into her apartment, retrieved a golf club and handed it to her 16-year-old daughter. Police said the teen then ran toward the 14-year-old victim and struck her in the head with the club before a second juvenile victim was also confronted.
Police said the 16-year-old did not strike the second girl herself. Instead, she allegedly passed the golf club to her 15-year-old sister, who then hit the second victim.
“The 14-year-old victim was transported … for treatment,” Newnan police said in the release. “As of 9:00 a.m. September 1, the victim remains hospitalized in stable condition. The second juvenile victim did not report any injuries.”
Police identified and arrested Heath after the attacks. She was booked into the Coweta County Jail on the aggravated assault charge.
“The 15-year-old and 16-year-old suspects were also arrested and transported to a regional youth detention center,” the NPD release says. “The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault, and the 16-year-old was charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery.”
Keira’s mom, Syrite Harps, told WANF that Heath’s daughters “tried to kill my daughter,” the station reports.
“That’s what went through my mind,” Harps said. “Ya’ll tried to kill her. She was laid on the ground, she was passed out couldn’t get no response from her she wasn’t moving I thought she was dead.”
Harps said Keira had to stay overnight at the hospital due to her injuries. “She has a skull fracture, neck swelling, and a incision on the top of her head,” a GoFundMe created by Harps says.
Keira’s older sister, Jasmine Osirio, was the second victim and told WANF that they all tried to talk things out before Heath retrieved the golf club.
“I’m trying to talk to the mother, but she just wouldn’t talk to me back, and so after that, it just broke loose,” Osirio said. “[Keira] was bleeding. Then she hyperventilated and passed out.”
Osirio added, “They also hit me with the golf club as well.”
Describing what she hopes happens to Heath and her children, Harps said, “I want justice.”
