A Texas woman allegedly mixed a “nontoxic” drink that sent her son’s schoolmate to the hospital as revenge for the victim stealing an energy drink from the boy, according to Bexar County deputies.
Jennifer Lynn Rossi, 45, is charged with injury to a child causing bodily injury.
Authorities said they were dispatched Tuesday to Legacy Traditional School – Alamo Ranch regarding a sick child.
“Upon arriving to the school, deputies learned that the sick child was given a drink by a classmate during P.E. class,” they wrote. “The drink provided was found to contain a mixture of lemon, salt and vinegar inside a sports drink bottle. Shortly after the child consumed the drink, he began experiencing nausea and a headache.”
The victim was taken a hospital, deputies said in a report from San Antonio ABC affiliate KSAT.
According to authorities, the suspect’s 10-year-old son said that his mother made the drink.
Rossi allegedly told investigators and the principal about making the drink, giving it to her son, and telling him to give it to his schoolmate, according to the outlet.
Her alleged stated motive: “To stop the bullies at her son’s school” after his Prime energy drink had been stolen.
“Rossi admitted to making the mixture due to her son … stating the child stole his drink and was bullying him,” they wrote.
Rossi allegedly said the drink was nontoxic and that she was a nurse.
She described the drink mixture as a “prank,” authorities said in a report from San Antonio CBS affiliate KENS5.

On Tuesday morning, March 5, a Legacy – Alamo Ranch student brought a homemade beverage to school and shared it with classmates, resulting in one student requiring medical attention. The concoction — which we understand included a mixture of lemon juice, salt, vinegar and Gatorade — was immediately confiscated by school staff members and administrators, and local law enforcement was notified. The student who initially brought the drink to school will be subject to disciplinary actions in accordance with Legacy policies governing student conduct.
