Courtroom footage shows Kelli Bryant during her sentencing hearing (WJBK).
A Michigan mother who admitted no contest to leaving her three children alone inside a filthy condominium will now serve time in prison.
Kelli Bryant, 35, was sentenced Tuesday to six to 30 years behind bars after entering no contest pleas in July to three counts of child abuse. Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies discovered her children — ages 15, 13, and 12 — during a welfare check in February 2025 at a condominium in Pontiac, Michigan. Authorities said the home was filled with squalor, and the children reported they had been living without Bryant since 2020 or 2021.
Investigators said Bryant effectively abandoned the children while choosing to live a lifestyle free from parental responsibilities.
At sentencing, Brennan addressed Bryant directly, saying, “During this time, your needs were met. Not perfectly, but you moved about in the world. You used toilets that flush. You had human contact. You had your physical needs met. And you were not sleeping on pizza boxes, surrounded by filth.”
With a minimum term of six years, Bryant will not be eligible for parole until after each of her children has reached adulthood.
