An Indiana woman, who took matters into her own hands after believing her stepson was being bullied, is now facing the consequences of her actions.

Raven Barner, 26, has admitted guilt to two counts of battery on minors under 14 years old. This plea stems from an incident in October 2025 involving her and her partner, Donquarious Ridley, aged 27. According to Law&Crime, Barner was accused of boarding a school bus on October 31, 2025, near their Greenwood, Indiana apartment complex, where she confronted and yelled at children.

The duo suspected that their young son was being targeted by bullies on his school bus.

A probable cause affidavit, examined by Law&Crime, indicates that law enforcement was summoned to a Greenwood apartment complex on the morning of October 31, 2025. Witnesses, including children, reported seeing Ridley and Barner board the school bus and shout at its passengers.

Video footage from inside the bus recorded the entire episode. The police reported that the footage showed Barner and Ridley boarding the bus after their son was picked up, without the bus driver’s consent.

Barner engaged in a heated verbal exchange with two children, threatening one boy with physical harm. She allegedly told the boy she would “beat his a—” and encouraged her stepson to “start an altercation.” The bus driver intervened, positioning themselves between Barner and a child she struck, while another child was inadvertently hit during the commotion.

In addition to the two battery charges, she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement. On May 21, Barner was sentenced to one year in jail followed by one year of active probation. She was also ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation.

Ridley’s case is still pending. He was charged with two counts of battery on a person less than 14 years old and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His next court date is scheduled for July 27.
