Mother Arrested After Missing Months of Hospital Appointments for Infant Son With Bone Disorder, Authorities Say

A Tennessee woman has been jailed after authorities alleged she missed multiple hospital checkup appointments for her infant son, who had suffered several injuries.

Kayla Antonette Wells, 24, faces a charge of child neglect, according to court records reviewed by Law&Crime. She was booked Tuesday into the Shelby County Jail.

Wells was arrested and held on a $10,000 bond. Police did not provide details about the child’s current condition or say who is caring for him while the case against his mother moves forward.

The defendant appeared for a video arraignment on Wednesday and is due back for a bail review hearing on Thursday.
