Authorities in Ohio say a woman discovered her son dead but did not immediately contact emergency services, allegedly spending hours with his body on the front porch before calling for help.

Michelle Feudi, 55, was booked Sunday into the Lucas County Corrections Center and later released on her own recognizance. An affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime says Feudi found her adult son dead in his bedroom at their Toledo, Ohio, home around 2 p.m. Saturday. Police allege that instead of dialing 911, she moved his body to the enclosed front porch and left it there until the next morning.

Investigators said Feudi contacted 911 shortly after 5 a.m. Sunday to report that her 23-year-old son was dead. When first responders arrived, she allegedly told officers she had gone to wake him the previous afternoon and found him “cold to the touch” with no pulse. She also reportedly said that when she turned him over, “blood came from his mouth.”

According to the affidavit, Feudi told police she believed her son had died after finding him in that condition. She is accused of carrying his body from the bedroom to the home’s enclosed front porch, where authorities say she remained with him for several hours before finally calling 911 about 15 hours after the discovery.

Police have not publicly disclosed a cause of death for Feudi’s son.

Feudi was arrested on a charge of abuse of a corpse. Following a court appearance Monday, she was released from the Lucas County Corrections Center. She is due back in Toledo Municipal Court on July 16.
