After nearly three weeks of testimony, a jury swiftly reached a verdict in just three hours, finding 75-year-old Donna Adelson guilty on all counts against her.
Adelson was convicted of conspiracy to murder, solicitation for murder, and first-degree murder in the murder-for-hire plot against her former son-in-law, Dan Markel.
Currently, Adelson has submitted a request for a new trial, citing several issues such as jury misconduct, judicial bias, and insufficient evidence for the conviction.
The 18-page motion comes just two weeks after Adelson’s conviction and includes a request to interview two of the jurors who decided her fate.
Adelson accuses the jury foreperson, juror number seven, of failing to follow the judge’s instructions on speaking about the case.
Adelson argues that Jacey Maxen Walker, a juror, posted a TikTok about her jury duty on the third day of the trial, which she later deleted. Adelson states that Maxen Walker gained attention for her posts discussing the case details immediately after the finding.
