Naomi Jones Pensacola Murder: True Conviction – Robert Letroy Howard was found guilty of first-degree murder in the killing of Naomi Jones, a 12-year-old girl from Escambia County, after an agonizing four-year delay following her murder. Let’s delve a little deeper to learn more about the case.

More than four years have gone by since hundreds of law enforcement police, search-and-rescue workers, and private citizens joined forces to comb Pensacola for a 12-year-old girl named Naomi Jones, who went missing in the city.

BREAKING: Robert Howard Indicted for Murder of Naomi Jones, Faces Death Penalty

Her body was discovered by a fisherman in Ensley creek, not far from her mother’s apartment, after a large search operation that lasted five days ended in failure.

Naomi Jones Pensacola Murder

Naomi Jones was reported missing on May 31, 2017, from her family’s home at Aspen Village Apartments, and the entire community was shocked by her disappearance.

The search-and-rescue operation was one of the most significant to take place during the 12-year tenure of former Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan in his position.

A duct tape had been applied to Naomi’s body, and a little piece of plastic material had been tangled in her hair. The girl had to bruise on her right elbow as well as her right leg, and a toxicology report revealed that she had traces of ethanol in her bloodstream.

Even though Naomi Jones’ cause of death was first listed as “homicide violence of uncertain methods” in a medical examiner’s report, a search warrant application filed by the Sheriff’s Office later revealed suffocation as a likely cause of her death.

Where Is Killer Robert Howard Now?

Naomi’s body was recovered and deputies from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office recognized Howard as a person of interest. It was in this location that Howard’s truck was discovered through security on the night Naomi vanished.

He was staying in a nearby apartment to Jones on the day of his arrest on June 7, 2017.

During his custody on June 8, 2017, he allegedly confessed to strangling Jones and tossing her body from a bridge. He will be sentenced to a life term in prison.

On August 12, 2021, the attorneys delivered their final arguments. Naomi was choked to death and thrown into Eight Mile Creek, and Howard admitted to this on an interrogation recording aired on August 11, 2021, by prosecutors.

The attorneys both agreed that Howard killed Naomi Jones, but their views on when and why he did so differed significantly. The trial lasted four days but was postponed due to COVID’s interference with the proceedings.
