VIDEO: Rob Reiner’s Son Nick at Gas Station Moments Before Arrest for Parents’ Murders

The arraignment of Nick Reiner faced a setback when his attorney withdrew from the double homicide case on Wednesday.

Los Angeles County Judge Theresa McGonigle granted Alan Jackson’s petition to step down from representing 32-year-old Reiner. Consequently, the arraignment has been rescheduled for February 23, as reported by The Los Angeles Times.

Kimberly Greene, a Deputy Public Defender, has taken over as Reiner’s new counsel. The reasoning behind Jackson’s decision to exit the case remains undisclosed, despite his notable representation of figures like Harvey Weinstein and Karen Read.

Reiner stands accused of fatally stabbing his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner, aged 78 and 70, respectively. Their bodies were discovered at their Brentwood, California residence on December 14, around 12 hours post-murder, by their daughter.

A spokesperson for the Reiner family informed TMZ that they trust the legal system completely and will refrain from making further comments regarding the case following Jackson’s withdrawal.

During Wednesday’s proceedings, Reiner did not submit a plea; however, he verbally agreed to the delay of his arraignment.

A source told The New York Times that the Reiner family hired Jackson immediately after Nick Reiner’s arrest. The source also claimed that Jackson’s resignation had nothing to do with his performance.

Reports indicated that Nick Reiner was removed from suicide watch before Wednesday’s hearing.
