A ‘full-time online troll’ who terrorised three people including former EastEnders‘ actress Danniella Westbrook has been jailed for three years.

Natasha Dawn, 43, subjected the former I’m a Celebrity star to a barrage of insults and racism on Twitter and Instagram.

Dawn, from Stapleford, Notts., pleaded guilty to three counts of stalking and was handed a prison sentence at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday.

She had bombarded homeless charity worker Barrington Patterson and his wife Tracey with messages – including false accusations of paedophilia – after they stuck up for Ms Westbrook.

After the case, Ms Westbrook took to Twitter to detail some of the abuse she received.

Ms Westbrook, 47, wrote: ‘Just some of the hate Tracey and I received, six years of hate and daily trolling. Now finally Tasha the troll is behind bars for three years * #trollers.’

A court heard ‘lonely’ Dawn operated as a ‘full-time troll’ and tormented her victims with up to 80 messages a day over a nine month period and using more than 100 different social media accounts.

She falsely labelled Mr Patterson a paedophile and a drug user and told his wife Tracey: ‘You won’t be waking up tomorrow’.

Dawn claimed Mr Patterson, who is a reformed football hooligan once known as ‘One Eyed Baz’, abused children and lied about a cancer diagnosis.

She also racially abused him and made taunts about his dead mother on Mother’s Day.

Dawn’s other victim included Richard McRae, a councillor for Broxtowe Borough Council in Nottinghamshire.

The court was told Dawn targeted Tracey online after becoming angry that she had defended the TV personality.

Tracey told police she blocked Dawn’s social media accounts but that she then created new accounts under different names to send more abuse.

She revealed how Dawn had sent her 20 to 80 offensive tweets and messages most days for nine months.

Dawn was arrested in August 2019 and investigations found she had sent abusive messages to a number of other people on social media.

She was also slapped with a restraining order, banning her from contacting or referring to a number of people on social media indefinitely.

Detective Sergeant Lee Kirk, of Nottinghamshire Police, said afterwards: ‘Dawn’s behaviour throughout this period was genuinely shocking and I am pleased she has now been brought to justice.

‘Our investigations found she had abused a number of people on social media and I hope this sentence provides her victims with some degree of comfort.

‘Stalking behaviors such as harassment shouldn’t be tolerated by anyone at any time and I want to send out a clear message that in Nottinghamshire it will not be accepted.’
