Authorities say a 92-year-old Kentucky man put a plastic bag over his wife’s face and pinched her nose while the couple was at a retirement community.
Bert Morris is facing charges of attempted murder related to domestic violence and first-degree strangulation, the Louisville Metro Police Department said. He was booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
Police said officers arrived shortly after midnight Wednesday at the 6700 block of Overlook Drive after receiving a report of domestic violence. The call came from StoryPoint Brownsboro, a senior living community, according to an arrest citation obtained by local ABC affiliate WHAS.
Officers learned that facility employees had stepped in during an assault involving an elderly woman. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The department’s Special Victims Unit Domestic Violence Squad opened an investigation and apparently discovered that the incident had been recorded on video.
According to police, the footage showed Morris covering his wife’s face with a plastic bag before pinching her nose. During an interview with investigators, he allegedly said that she “needed to die.”
The woman was reportedly still unconscious at the hospital on Wednesday. Authorities have not said whether Morris and the victim both lived at the retirement community.
A StoryPoint Brownsboro spokesperson told WHAS in a statement that the facility “is working closely and fully cooperating with law enforcement authorities regarding this matter.” The spokesperson added: “While we are unable to comment on specific details at this time, the safety, well-being, and peace of mind of our residents remain our highest priority and at the heart of everything we do.”
Police said Wednesday that the investigation was ongoing.
