An Indiana mother has been arrested months after the death of her baby, with police alleging that her decision to stop taking prescribed seizure medication led to the 5-month-old’s fatal injuries.

Chantel Cunningham, 24, is facing charges of murder and neglect of a dependent resulting in death in connection with the death of her son, Greyson Cunningham. According to court records obtained by local CBS affiliate WSBT, Cunningham was alone with Greyson at their home in Shipshewana, Indiana, on April 6 when she fell after suffering a seizure. Investigators said Cunningham told police she dropped the infant onto the floor and then landed on top of him, causing injuries that proved fatal.

As the investigation continued, police said they learned Cunningham had allegedly stopped taking medication for her seizure disorder months before Greyson died.

Cunningham was arrested Wednesday and booked into the LaGrange County Jail. She remained in custody and was expected to make her first court appearance Thursday. Information about her next scheduled court date was not immediately available to the public.
