A Texas woman is behind bars after she allegedly shot her boyfriend dead while he was coming back to their apartment to get his things.
Derricka Ross, 24, was taken into custody on Sunday when police arrived at the Derby at Steeplechase apartment complex in Houston, Texas. In a statement posted to YouTube, Major Earl Dean of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office said that officers responded to several calls at the complex on Sunday night at 9:14 p.m. about a disturbance. Several more calls were made later concerning shots fired at the same apartment.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene, they found the body of Javion Williams, 22, with a fatal gunshot wound.

According to Dean, Williams was found by a stairwell outside of the apartment building. He also provided the detail that a female suspect had been detained and a weapon had been found. Dean stated that the investigation was “very active” and that police were speaking to several people who “may have witnessed the entire incident.”
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez wrote in a post on X that Ross was the suspect, noting in a later post that she and Williams “were reportedly in a dating relationship.” Williams had reportedly “returned to the apartment to get his belongings” when Ross allegedly shot him.
Dean stated in his update that there were no other suspects connected to Williams’ shooting.
Ross was taken into custody on Sunday and booked into the Harris County Jail where she is being held on $150,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
