A Wisconsin woman is facing criminal charges after authorities say she repeatedly poisoned her ex-husband by secretly adding eye drops to his beverages.

Jessica Meis, 37, is being held at the Portage County Jail on a $100,000 bond. She has been charged with aggravated battery with a domestic violence modifier, along with two counts of placing foreign objects in edibles. According to a criminal complaint reviewed by Law&Crime, Meis’ ex-husband contacted Stevens Point police on Monday after he came to believe she had put something in his drink in an attempt to poison him.

The man told investigators he had suffered unexplained symptoms dating back to 2021, including exhaustion, dizziness, headaches, and sleeping for unusually long stretches. Police said many of the alleged incidents appeared to cluster around June 2025, when the former couple finalized their divorce. Even after separating, the two continued sharing the same home in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, while Meis looked for a place of her own.

In the complaint, police say Meis admitted she had been putting eye drops in her ex-husband’s drinks to make him “sick” because she wanted him to “let [her] take care of him” and to feel that “he would need her.” Investigators allege she acknowledged adding Visine to several of his beverages, including Monster energy drinks, Propel water, Bubbler drinks, and “most likely” his old fashioned mix. She also allegedly told police she attempted to put Visine in his CPAP machine, though she said she did not think that effort was successful.

When officers asked whether she worried her children might drink something contaminated with Visine, Meis allegedly responded that “they don’t drink these things.” Police said she showed no remorse during the interview.

Meis was arrested Tuesday and remains jailed. Her next court appearance is scheduled for July 27.
