A Florida man repairing a flat bicycle tire was allegedly attacked in West Palm Beach, suffering a stomach stab wound and losing part of his nose during what authorities describe as an attempted robbery.
Amanda Rupp, 42, is charged with first-degree attempted murder, robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, according to court records.
The incident unfolded early Sunday in the 4700 block of Broadway Avenue, where two security guards reportedly found the 34-year-old victim and contacted police, according to a probable cause affidavit.
Investigators said the man had sustained a severe wound to his upper torso, with his stomach protruding from the injury. A portion of his nose was also missing and was later found at the scene, police wrote.
Paramedics transported the injured man to a hospital, where detectives later spoke with him about what happened.
The victim told police his bicycle tire went flat, leaving him seated on the ground when a woman—later identified as Rupp—approached and asked about the bike. He said she then attacked him with a knife, repeatedly stabbing him while shouting, “I’m going to kill you!”
Police arrested Rupp, who allegedly insisted that she—not the injured man—was the victim.
“That f—ing guy that robbed me,” she reportedly told officers.
Rupp claimed the man had offered his bicycle in exchange for sex. She told investigators that after she refused, he attacked her with a knife and that both were hurt during the struggle.
Authorities said surveillance video supported the man’s account. According to the affidavit, the footage showed Rupp continuing the assault after he had already been stabbed, and officers said she displayed “no remorse.”
Rupp remains held without bond at the Palm Beach County Jail. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 22.
