A 57-year-old Tennessee man has been charged with murder after he called 911 and said that he had stabbed a driver who ran him off the road and then threatened him.

Memphis police said the incident took place shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday night, according to WREG.

Jonathan Brush reportedly told an emergency dispatcher that a man driving a Toyota Camry ran him off the road, got out of his car, and threatened him, an arrest affidavit says. He said that he still had the knife with him and that the other driver was unconscious in his car.

Officers arrived and found the man, identified as Jody Moyt, in the Camry with multiple stab wounds to his upper torso and legs. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Moyt was the executive chef at Lafayette’s Restaurant and Bar — a reboot of the original 1970s era Lafayette’s Music Room — in Memphis, a popular live music venue that featured his Southern-inspired creations.

Police found Brush’s pocket knife “with red residue” on the blade on the driver’s seat of his car, according to the affidavit.

Brush is charged with second degree murder and is being held on a $1 million bond, according to jail records. He’s due back in court on Tuesday.
