Family and loved ones have finally been able to farewell murder victim Julian Story, remembering the Port Lincoln local as a talented musician with a caring spirit.
A private funeral service was held in Port Lincoln for Story today, seven weeks after his body was discovered.Â
“He was a normal lad, a very talented musician, a bit of a trickster, which any lad would be growing up on the farm out at Wanilla,” Father Paul Bourke, who officiated the service, said.
“Julian’s family have been through such a traumatic time, but are strong people, are supported by the community, they’ve got their own faith and their own beliefs in life and that will get them through,” he added.
Story was allegedly killed and beheaded by his girlfriend, Tamika Chesser, a former reality TV contestant on Beauty and the Geek.Â
Story’s remains were discovered at his Port Lincoln home, although his head wasn’t found until last week, delaying his funeral.
“This is another tragic case and we were pleased to be able to locate part of the remains for the victim of that terrible incident which is some comfort to the family and a very small comfort I would say,” Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said.
Tamika Chesser is currently receiving treatment at a mental health facility in Adelaide. Police have not yet been able to interview her regarding the alleged murder.Â
“Most people would expect that if someone is experiencing a mental health episode that requires treatment, that you wouldn’t be expecting the police to go in there and speak with her at that time,” Stevens said.
The investigation remains ongoing.
