Pre-Trial Release Man Faces New Arrest for Alleged Knife Threat Against Roommate

Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Authorities detained 34-year-old Jeremy Thomas Hudgens IV earlier today, following accusations of threatening his roommate with a knife.

Just before midnight on May 13, an Alachua County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a residence in southwest Gainesville. According to the roommate, Hudgens unexpectedly became agitated and began shouting at both him and a woman present. During the heated exchange, Hudgens allegedly brandished a knife, advancing towards the roommate while issuing death threats. Fearing for his safety, the roommate reportedly fled the premises.

The woman involved recounted that while she was in a vehicle, she observed Hudgens holding a knife and making a statement akin to, “I got something for ya.” After the roommate exited the house, he armed himself with a broom handle. Meanwhile, Hudgens reportedly sheathed the knife and left it on a table by the entrance before departing with the woman. Both witnesses confirmed to the deputy that the knife remained on the table.

Hudgens now faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Although he has no prior convictions, he was previously arrested in July for allegedly aiming a gun at the sister of an ex-girlfriend. He was released on a $15,000 bail in that incident, with charges still pending. For the latest accusation, Judge Susan Miller-Jones has set bail at $100,000, stipulating that Hudgens must reside elsewhere if released.

Note: Articles detailing arrests are based on information from law enforcement agencies. The charges mentioned stem from arrest reports and/or court records and are allegations only. All individuals are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
