Police seized a jerry can found under the ute for forensic examination.

Investigators have not publicly speculated about motive, but the owner of the ute, Umar, told 9News he had been threatened recently in connection to the car.

Umar said on Sunday, a man had threatened to blow up the car and injure Umar and his family.
