A tragic discovery was made early Monday morning when the body of a 46-year-old woman from Ashgrove was found on a property located on Waterford Tamborine Road in Buccan. The grim find occurred around 2:30 a.m.
The woman had been reported missing, having last been seen on Saturday, sparking concern and a search for her whereabouts.
Wa’el Alfar, a 36-year-old man who resides at the Buccan property, was notably absent when police arrived on the scene.
Later that day, around 2 p.m., Alfar was apprehended near Kempsey in New South Wales. His arrest followed an alleged high-speed chase with law enforcement.
Following the chase, Alfar faced a series of charges, including dangerous driving, among other offenses.
He remains in custody in New South Wales and is scheduled to be sentenced on February 25.
Queensland Police have now issued an arrest warrant for Alfar for the murder of the 46-year-old woman, and will seek his extradition once court matters in NSW are finalised.
The investigation continues.
