GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A recent incident at St. Francis House led to the arrest of 34-year-old Davion O’Quinn Brockington, who was taken into custody for reportedly assaulting a woman by picking her up and slamming her headfirst onto the ground. This arrest comes shortly after his release from state prison on December 3.

On the afternoon of December 6, officers from the Gainesville Police Department arrived at St. Francis House, located at 413 S. Main Street, following reports of a disturbance. Brockington had visited the shelter seeking food and services for the homeless. However, when informed by staff that he needed to return during service hours, he allegedly attacked a woman seated near the front desk, lifting her from her chair and forcefully throwing her onto the concrete floor.

Following the altercation, Brockington reportedly fled the scene and jumped into the bed of a truck waiting at a red light outside the shelter. When the truck’s driver exited the vehicle to investigate the intrusion, Brockington is alleged to have assaulted him as well. However, since the driver was not located at the time of Brockington’s arrest, he has not been charged with that particular battery.

Shelter employees, familiar with Brockington as a client, provided his details to law enforcement, facilitating his identification and arrest.

Brockington now faces charges of battery. His criminal record includes 17 felony convictions, with two involving violence, and 33 misdemeanors, four of which were violent. He has been incarcerated six times, having most recently been released on December 3, 2025. Judge David Kreider has set his bail at $25,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
