Texas Cop Accused of Hitting Child Multiple Times in ‘Off-Duty’ Incidents

A San Antonio police officer has been taken into custody this week, facing serious charges related to multiple incidents of child injury that allegedly occurred in 2024.

Jacob Ryan, aged 24, voluntarily surrendered to authorities on Tuesday, following his indictment and the issuance of an arrest warrant, as reported by KSAT. He has been charged with three felony counts of injury to a child.

According to court documents, Ryan is accused of assaulting the same child on three separate occasions in February, March, and June of 2024. The documents do not clarify the reasons for the delay in filing charges, which took over a year.

The reports indicate that Ryan allegedly struck the child with his hand and by “manner and means unknown” on February 13, 2024. On March 21, the child was reportedly hit again, this time with his hand and an “object unknown.” The final incident on June 10 allegedly involved Ryan lifting the child’s arm with one hand and hitting them with the other.

These incidents reportedly occurred while Ryan was off duty. KENS has identified the victim as a girl below the age of 15, but further details have not been disclosed.

Following his arrest, Ryan was released on a $10,000 bond, under strict conditions of full house arrest with GPS monitoring. He is prohibited from contacting the victim or possessing any firearms.

His next court appearance is scheduled for February 9.

The department said Ryan is a five year veteran who works in the patrol division, KSAT said. He has been placed on administrative leave while they conduct an internal investigation.
