In Wisconsin, a mother of two who is expecting her third child has reported a terrifying incident where she was assaulted with a metal baseball bat by a woman, accompanied by a man, over a relationship conflict. The assailants reportedly threatened to harm her unborn child during the attack.
Gheonna Lacy recounted the harrowing experience to ABC affiliate WISN, describing how the pair, concealed by hoods, ambushed her outside a group home in Racine. Lacy, who is employed there as a caregiver, believes the incident was linked to a personal dispute with the female attacker.
“They just knocked me down right away,” Lacy recalled. “They swung the bat and kicked me as I lay on the ground.”
Lacy shared that the woman seemed intent on harming both her and her unborn child, prompting her to shield her stomach as best as she could. The sudden attack occurred around 7 a.m. last Thursday as Lacy stepped out to warm up her car. Security footage from a Ring camera, obtained by WISN, captured the suspects as they approached her stealthily.
“Being pregnant, you assume there’s a level of safety, that no one would harm you,” Lacy reflected. “I see the scene over and over each time I close my eyes.”
A GoFundMe page set up by her employer highlights Lacy’s dedication as a caregiver, providing daily support to others. The account also details how she was preparing to leave work when the assault occurred, underscoring the suddenness and severity of the attack.
“As she walked outside toward her vehicle, one male and one female were waiting for her and brutally attacked her,” the GoFundMe alleges. “She was beaten with a metal baseball bat and repeatedly kicked and stomped on — including blows to her stomach, face, and entire body.”
Lacy was hospitalized after the assault and was being “closely monitored,” along with her unborn child. “This traumatic incident has left her physically injured, emotionally shaken, and unable to work at this time,” the GoFundMe explains.
Police told WISN that an investigation has been launched and the suspects are currently being sought. No arrests had been made as of Sunday.
