Tepe Murders: Accused Stone-faced Killer Surgeon Tormented Former Wife Before Shootings

An Illinois resident is facing charges for allegedly murdering his ex-wife, Monique Tepe, and her husband, Spencer Tepe.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that 39-year-old Michael McKee is currently detained in Winnebago County, Illinois. Authorities are working on the necessary arrangements to extradite him to Columbus, Ohio.

Earlier this week, McKee appeared in a Winnebago County court and agreed to be extradited. Upon his transfer to Columbus, he will be held at the Franklin County jail until a grand jury decides on an indictment.

Should an indictment occur, McKee could potentially face further charges.

According to CrimeOnline, McKee is accused of the December 30 murder of the Tepe couple, almost a decade after his divorce from Monique. Authorities state that the shootings occurred at approximately 3:52 a.m., just weeks before the couple’s fifth wedding anniversary.

After killing the couple in the upstairs area of the Columbus, Ohio, home, McKee fled in a vehicle that helped police match him to the scene, according to law enforcement.

Security footage obtained from the couple’s Weinland Park neighborhood, showed a man that investigators believed to have been McKee, in the area between 2 a.m. to 5 a.m., on the morning in question.

An affidavit indicated that McKee likely carried out the murders at 3:52 a.m.

Video footage shared publicly by Columbus police didn’t clearly show McKee’s face, but investigators said his vehicle had been in the neighborhood, which helped track McKee to the killings.

While conducting a search at McKee’s apartment in the Chicago area, investigators reportedly found numerous weapons, which were taken into evidence.

It’s unclear which weapons were found but one of them matched “three 9mm shell casings” found at the crime scene, FOX News Digital reports.

The discovery came after investigators worked with the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) to link the weapon.

McKee is currently facing aggravated murder with premeditation charges.
