Two men, aged 31 and 36, found themselves in police custody on Wednesday following coordinated raids across five properties in their region. These operations, executed by law enforcement, targeted locations in Mareeba and Mount Molloy.
During the raid, officers swiftly detained one of the suspects, issuing a firm command, “Stay right there,” as they proceeded to handcuff the man who was seated calmly on a couch.
Within the premises, authorities uncovered multiple sandwich bags filled with a white powdery substance. They also noted various items, including clothing adorned with wolf imagery and a distinctive wolf painting prominently displayed above a bed.
Police reported seizing a substantial amount of methamphetamine, cocaine, and cannabis, alongside drug paraphernalia and electronic devices, all of which contributed to the suspects’ legal woes.
The younger of the two, the 31-year-old, faces numerous charges, including several drug-related offences, extortion, and a single count of kidnapping.
The 36-year-old suspect was likewise charged with two counts of extortion, possession of dangerous drugs, kidnapping, and failing to comply with an order related to accessing electronically stored information.
Police alleged one of the men is an associate of the Lone Wolf bikie gang and was involved with trafficking meth in the Far North region.
The pair have been remanded in custody.
The older man will face the Mareeba Magistrates Court on February 2, while the younger man will face the same court later on April 7.
The arrests come under Operation Yankee Novi, which was launched on January 22 after reports that a woman was kidnapped and extorted by a man known to her at a Machans Beach property.
Another alleged Lone Wolf member, a 32-year-old man, was charged with trafficking dangerous drugs and money laundering in December under Operation Xray Rile.
