A 32-year-old woman found herself in a tense situation early this morning when she was halted in her vehicle at the intersection of Mahoneys and Edgars Roads in Reservoir around 2:40 a.m.
According to police reports, a man approached and began damaging the woman’s passenger door.
With a 22-year-old female passenger alongside her, the driver made her way to the Reservoir Police Station seeking help, only to find it closed.
At the police station, the same individual confronted her again, this time brandishing a knife and demanding her car keys.
Despite the threat, she resisted handing over the keys, resulting in the man inflicting a superficial cut on her arm.
The assailant then left the scene in his own vehicle.
The man then fled in his own car.
The victim drove to a nearby shopping centre car park and called triple zero.
Police believe the offender is known to the victim.
The Police Association said in a statement the closure was a “frustrating necessity, amid the “current resourcing crisis.”
“The irregularity of these closures can confuse the community when they seek urgent face-to-face assistance, and can create a risk for people seeking refuge,” it said.
Investigations are ongoing.
