A tragic incident unfolded in Texas where a 29-year-old man stands accused of fatally stabbing his brother during a heated argument. Witnesses alleged that Nestor Eduardo Flores attacked his 43-year-old sibling, Jose Gabriel Flores, multiple times in the back.

Nestor Flores has been charged with murder in connection with the death of his brother, as confirmed by official records.

According to Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra, deputies were dispatched around 8:33 p.m. on Wednesday to a stabbing incident at a home located in the 3500 block of Mile 13 North. This rural area is situated about 240 miles south of San Antonio.

Upon their arrival, authorities discovered Jose Flores with severe stab wounds. It was reported that he had been attacked by his brother. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

By the time law enforcement arrived, Nestor Flores had reportedly fled the scene on foot. He was later apprehended at his residence on Thursday morning and briefly hospitalized before his release that evening, as reported by Weslaco, Texas-based ABC affiliate KRGV. The station shared footage of Nestor Flores during his Friday court arraignment, where he appeared with his left arm in a sling.

Witnesses recounted to investigators that an argument between the brothers quickly escalated into a physical altercation. At some point, Nestor Flores allegedly drew a knife and repeatedly stabbed Jose Flores in the back, according to Brownsville-based NBC and CBS affiliate KVEO’s report.

It was not immediately clear what the two siblings were arguing about prior to the fatal attack.

Nestor Flores’ defense attorney, Hector Hernandez Jr., told the judge that his client was likely acting in self-defense when he stabbed his brother, according to KRGV. Hernandez sought $10,000 bond for his client, but the court set the bond amount at $1 million, records show.

A date for Nestor Flores’ next court appearance was not available as of Sunday evening.
