Authorities are investigating after a barrel containing a body was reportedly discovered on Sunday on a shore in Nevada.

According to KLAS, the skeletal remains were found near Hemenway Harbor, which is at Lake Mead. A witness said she was docking her boat when she heard a woman scream, prompting the witness’ husband to walk over and observe the remains, which were inside a barrel.

“His shirt and belt were the only things we could see over his decomposing bones,” the witness told KLAS.

Reports indicated that an ongoing drought at Lake Mead may have facilitated Sunday’s incident. KLAS reported that the barrel was stuck in the mud and may have been visible due to low water levels.

According to the news outlet, the National Park Service and Las Vegas Metro police are in the process of recovering the remains. From there, the Clark County coroner will identify the decedent.
