A man from South Carolina has confessed to the murder of his 25-year-old girlfriend, whose body was discovered in her incinerated vehicle.
On Monday, Jarrett Haskell Davis admitted to the crime and received a prison sentence exceeding four decades, according to a report by WRDW.
Megan Bodiford’s remains were located in the charred car on April 30, 2024, several days after she had been reported missing. A friend raised the alarm upon receiving a distressing message from Bodiford the previous day, as noted by CrimeOnline.
The message ominously stated, “If you don’t hear from me in 30 minutes, he killed me. He has a gun.”
Investigators revealed that Davis fatally shot Bodiford on April 25, subsequently abandoning her vehicle in a utility corridor before setting it aflame. Remarkably, Bodiford’s 4-month-old child was discovered unharmed at Davis’s residence.
Davis faced charges on four counts and agreed to serve the sentences concurrently, as WRDW reported. For the primary charge of murder, he received a 43-year sentence. Additionally, he was sentenced to five years for weapon possession during a violent crime, 15 years for arson, and 10 years for desecrating human remains.
