‘Emily’s Law’: Statewide Turquoise Alert Issued for Missing 16-Year-Old Arizona Girl

Authorities in Arizona are actively searching for a teenage girl who disappeared without a trace on Saturday.

The Mesa Police Department has issued a statewide Turquoise Alert for 16-year-old Yolyn Hermios. She was last seen around 6:50 p.m. near the intersection of Dobson and Broadway Road in Mesa, according to local law enforcement.

“Her family is worried about her safety as it is unusual for her to be away for such a long time,” police officials stated.

At the time of her disappearance, Hermios was wearing red shorts, a black shirt, and black shoes, as reported by the authorities.

Hermios is described as a Pacific Islander, standing at 4 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair accented with green faded highlights, according to police details.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety notes that a Turquoise Alert, also referred to as “Emily’s Law,” is named in memory of 14-year-old Emily Pike. Pike tragically lost her life earlier this year after disappearing from a group home in Mesa.

“The goal of the Turquoise Alert is to locate the missing endangered person through efficient information dissemination and communication that results in the safe and expedient recovery,” ADPS said.

“The Turquoise Alert system is cited as “Emily’s Law” to honor and memorialize the life of San Carlos Apache Tribal member, Emily Pike.”

Anyone with information on Yolyn’s whereabouts should contact 911.
