A substitute teacher who has worked in both primary and high schools across Adelaide has been charged with offenses related to child sexual abuse.

Today, parents from four different schools in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs were informed that a 51-year-old relief teacher had been arrested on suspicion of these serious charges.

The accused has had teaching assignments at several institutions, including Stradbroke School, Marryatville High School, Charles Campbell College, and East Adelaide School.

Families received notifications of the allegations against the teacher through a standardized letter distributed by the principals of the affected schools.

The letter assured parents that, at this stage, “there is no evidence to suggest that any child at our school is involved.”

Despite this, the correspondence expressed concern, noting that “students may have had contact with the temporary teacher.”

The man has been banned from school sites and engaging in any child-related work while police continue their investigation.

But parents today said they remained worried about their children’ s safety.

“I feel a bit concerning [sic] but it’s good to know, I guess, they’ve acted on it,” parent Christine Lim told 9News.

The man, from Adelaide’s north-eastern suburbs, has been bailed to appear in court in February.
