BOULDER COUNTY, Colo. — A suspect out of Boulder was arrested after a shelter-in-place alert was issued in Nederland on Monday morning.
The Boulder Police Department said around 3:30 a.m. Monday, its officers responded to the Circle K at 2877 Baseline Road after receiving a report of a shooting. A man reported that he had just pulled into the Circle K when a man in a Mercedes, who was already there, began shooting at him, police said. The man was not hit, but his car was damaged in the gunfire.
The driver of the Mercedes then drove away.
Baseline Road reopened around 7 a.m., police said.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office was asked to help look for the suspect. Its deputies spotted the vehicle headed toward Nederland and began following it. The suspect driver slid off the road and crashed around the 22000 block of the Peak to Peak Highway. He got out of the car and ran, police said.
The sheriff’s office issued an Everbridge emergency alert around 9 a.m. for residents in the southern part of Nederland to shelter in place if they were within the Old Town, Big Springs, Sundance Lodge and Magnolia Road area. They believed the armed suspect was in that area.

Residents were asked to stay inside away from windows and doors.
The suspect was found hiding inside a business off the Peak to Peak Highway. He was taken into custody.
At 11:50 a.m., the all-clear was given and the shelter-in-place order was lifted.
The suspect has been identified by police as Raheem Adebayo Ayoola Raji, 25, of Golden. He faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder. Additional charges are pending, police said.
No other details were immediately available.
