Childcare workers charged with assaulting toddler in Sydney

Two childcare employees have been charged with allegedly assaulting a 17-month-old boy in Sydney.

On June 26, police received a report about injuries sustained by a 17-month-old boy at an early learning centre in South Wentworthville.

Police allege the injuries were caused by two childcare workers at the facility on separate occasions, but on the same day.

Yesterday, police issued two women with court attendance notices.

A 42-year-old woman has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and common assault, and a 32-year-old woman has been charged with common assault.

They will both appear in court on August 27.

Police urged parents with concerns about at-risk children to contact the Child Protection Helpline on 132 111 or speak to police directly.
