A North Carolina teen accused of driving at extreme speeds before a deadly Charlotte crash that killed a mother and daughter will not serve the lengthy prison term initially handed down in the case.

Jason Anthony Scott, 19, admitted guilt to two counts of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury tied to the Dec. 27, 2025, fatal wreck in Charlotte, North Carolina. At a Tuesday court hearing, he was told he would spend under a year in custody.

An affidavit reviewed by Law&Crime said Scott was driving a BMW at more than 100 mph in an area posted for 45 mph when he slammed into a Honda SUV. The SUV was being driven by 45-year-old Lorin Manley, with her 81-year-old mother, Gloria Manley, and a 12-year-old girl also inside.

Lorin Manley and Gloria Manley were declared dead at the crash site, while the child was left with life-threatening injuries.

Scott’s sentencing unfolded Tuesday after his guilty plea. Although he was first given a prison sentence of more than four years, the judge suspended that term. Instead, Scott must serve six months in jail followed by three years of probation. He was also ordered to submit a DNA sample, and his driver’s license was revoked.
