Authorities responded to an incident at a shopping mall on Malop Street, Geelong, around 3:30 p.m., after receiving emergency calls about an assault in progress.
Two teenage boys were reportedly engaged in a physical altercation within the mall, witnessed by a crowd of onlookers who are thought to be acquaintances of the boys.
Upon arrival, police discovered a 17-year-old male suffering from suspected stab wounds in the vicinity.
He was swiftly transported to a hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Investigators suspect that the other individual involved in the fight, along with several spectators, escaped the scene and were last observed heading towards Yarra Street.
In response to the incident, a crime scene has been established both at the shopping centre and in the surrounding areas to aid in the investigation.
Detectives are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have filmed the altercation to please come forward.
